The International Digital Economies Association (IDEA) officially launched at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre, coinciding with the first day of the Business of Innovation Technology Week (BITWEEK) 2024.
IDEA, a global movement for economies representing the vast majority of the world’s population, aims to drive collaboration and knowledge sharing among leaders from diverse sectors to propel forward the digital economies of member nations.
At the launch, Amor Maclang, Co-Founder, Secretary General and Trustee, IDEA and a sponsored guest of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG), emphasized, “IDEA is more than just an association; it’s a movement for the global majority. Through collaboration and shared knowledge, IDEA empowers leaders to build thriving digital economies in their respective nations.”
IDEA’s founding board members are key players in the global digital economies space. Either as individuals or as representatives of organizations, they have made significant contributions to building digital ecosystems in their respective countries and regions, they are: Dr. Segun Aina, President of Africa Fintech Network; Amor Maclang, Convenor of Digital Pilipinas. Jatinder HANDOO, CEO, Digital Lenders Association of India (DLAI); Rodrigo Garcia de la Cruz, Founding Chair of Global Fintech Alliance; Paul Li of the Hong Kong Fintech Industry Association (HKFIA); Chia Hock Lai 谢福来, CFtP, Co-Founder, Global FinTech Institute; and Dr. Jochen Biedermann, Managing Director, World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC). Currently, IDEA includes over 35 members and 25 countries.
BITWEEK, driven by the HKSARG and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), runs from April 9th to 16th, featuring other events throughout the week, including the Web3 Festival (April 6-9), the Digital Economy Summit (April 12-13), and InnoEX (April 13-16).
